Halo Highlight: Brenden Sharp
“Halo Highlight” is a series of interviews showcasing our unique and talented team members. This week, we sat down with .NET Developer Brenden Sharp to learn more about his role, how he first heard about Halo, and what’s on his bucket list.
Tell us a little bit about your role.
I work on Halo’s .NET team, where I focus on building back-end systems for the Halo platform. From sending messages and reminders to team and scheduling updates, the vast majority of systems we put in place goes through our team in some shape or form. I also design APIs and help manage all of the data. We are a collaborative team of seven, and we all have a desire to do good work and have the work done well.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
I love having the opportunity to design new things and make quality systems for our various products.
How did you first hear about Halo?
I received a cold call from a recruiter who recommended Halo to me. After hearing more about the company and its awesome benefits, I became more interested in the role.
What’s your favorite part about working at Halo?
I love that I’m not just working with people who are good at their jobs, but everyone cares about doing it well. The atmosphere is also fairly laid-back despite being in a fast-paced industry.
What might other Halo employees be surprised to know about you?
I love cooking! I learned a lot from my mom growing up. I also like woodworking. My dad and grandpa had me help them with their projects, and it was something we all enjoyed doing together.
What’s your go-to drink from the coffee machine?
I’m not a big coffee drinker so usually just water.
What’s on your bucket list?
I would travel to all sorts of different places with my wife. We’d go to Europe at some point.
If you could learn anything new, what would you like to learn?
I’d like to learn more about blacksmithing. I’ve done it a little bit here and there, but it would be cool to master this skill.
